Kaiane Aldorino from Gibraltar was named Miss World 2009 at a glittering two-hour spectacle in Johannesburg, South Africa.
First runner-up was Perla Beltran Acosta, Miss Mexico. Miss South Africa, Tatum Keshwar, who was the second runner-up.
The Government is working on plans for a Gibraltarian home-coming welcome for Miss World, Kaiane Aldorino. Details are currently being worked on, but Government is aiming for Thursday afternoon. The Government is laying on a private jet to bring Kaiane home from London.
Full details will be issued as soon as possible, but everyone should pencil Thursday afternoon in their diaries for a special celebration of a stunning success for Gibraltar in the world.
Employers will be asked by Government to close their businesses for a maximum of 2 hours to allow their staff to join in the public welcome.
